Immediate Vacancy: 1-1 SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full Time – Newton-le-Willows
Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient 1-1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Newton-le-Willows, starting immediately.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
• Providing tailored 1-1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs
• Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
• Building a strong, trusting relationship to help the pupil feel safe and supported
• Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual support plans
• Monitoring and recording the pupil’s progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
• Promoting positive behaviour, resilience, and independence
• Supporting the pupil during challenging situations using de-escalation techniques
What We’re Looking For:
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
• Recent experience working with children or young people, ideally within the last 2 years
• Ability to provide two references confirming your experience
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children with SEMH needs
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour is highly desirable
