Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing individualised support to a specific pupil in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Assisting with classroom activities, sensory play, and developmental tasks in line with the Early Years curriculum
- Supporting the pupil’s personal, social, and emotional development
- Monitoring and recording the pupil’s progress, behaviour, and engagement
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external agencies to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping to build the pupil’s confidence and independence
- Assisting with personal care, where required
What We’re Looking For:
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
- Recent childcare or school-based experience within the last 2 years
- Ability to provide two references confirming your experience with children
- A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning
- Experience working 1-1 with children with additional needs is desirable but not essential

SEN Teaching Assistant Required
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, 5 days per week
Exclusive Education is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEN from EYFS – KS2 at a school in Widnes. This Teaching Assistant role is full-time ideally but part time hours will be considered.
The ideal candidate for the Teaching Assistant position will have previous experience working with children with Severe Learning Difficulties.
Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils with Autism and other Special Educational Needs to access the curriculum and engage in learning
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventions
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning support as a proactive Teaching Assistant
- Implement behaviour management plans and support positive behaviour throughout the school day
- Assist pupils’ communication needs using tools such as PECs or other visual aids.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and developmental needs in line with individual education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support ongoing assessment
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment in your role as a Teaching Assistant
Requirements for the Teaching Assistant role:
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NCFE, CACHE, NVQ Level 1, 2 or 3) is desirable
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Recent experience working with children within the last two years
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism and special educational needs
- Excellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
- Previous experience working across KS3, KS4, and KS5 is advantageous
- Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children
- Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
- Training or experience in PECs, TEACCH, or Team Teach is desirable
