Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

Makaton Trained Teaching Assistant

Exclusive Education are seeking a Makaton Trained Teaching Assistant for one of our Primary Schools in the North West area to work a year 2 pupil with Global Developmental Delay. The school are looking to recruit an enthusiastic teaching assistant with experience of supporting pupils in a classroom environment.

The school are looking for someone who can:

  • Work effectively with children to ensure they make progress
  • Work as part of the team at the direction of the class teacher to support teaching provision and pupils’ learning
  • Under the guidance of the teacher, work with a child with additional educational needs, to help them to achieve their full potential
  • Support and implement strategies for teaching and learning and help to prepare and organise classroom learning activities
  • Observe pupils’ performance and use the school systems to provide the teacher with feedback on pupil progress

The successful applicant will provide tailored support to the pupil’s specific needs and work with the pupil to manage behaviour and promote learning development.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with pupils on a 1:1 and/or group basis
  • A calm and nurturing approach
  • At least 6 months experience working with children in the last 2 years
  • Legal right to work in the UK

A Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable for this role however it is not essential.

– Responsible for completing induction assessments and literacy interventions responding flexibly to the needs of the site and to student and staff issues as they arise.

– Responsible for recording baseline assessments on to sims

– Responsible for recording relevant information on Personalised Support Plans.

– Responsible for regular updates to staff on baseline assessments and highlighting any students with particular literacy need.

– Responsible for bringing key information to the Heads of School, ensuring that all pastoral information and issues are communicated.
