Exclusive Education are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support key stages 3 and 4 in a behavioural school in Birkenhead. This is a full time teaching assistant position and will be to start in September 2026.

Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with Autism and other Special Educational Needs to access the curriculum and engage in learning
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning support as a proactive Teaching Assistant
  • Implement behavior management plans and support positive behaviour throughout the school day
  • Assist pupils’ communication needs using tools such as PECs or other visual aids.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and developmental needs in line with individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support ongoing assessment
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment in your role as a Teaching Assistant

Requirements for the Teaching Assistant role:

  • A driving license
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Recent experience working with children within the last two years
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism and special educational needs
  • Excellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • Previous experience working across KS3, KS4, and KS5 is advantageous
  • Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children
  • Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Training or experience in PECs, TEACCH, or Team Teach is desirable
